5つのギガビットポートのうち4つにPoE出力を備えた小型ルーターです。48〜57Vの電源を使えば、IEEE 802.3af/at（Mode B）に対応したカメラや無線アクセスポイントへ給電できます。
1G Ethernet×5、SFP×1、USBを備え、CPUは1コア（800MHz）、メモリは128MBです。ルーティング性能は最大2.0Gbps（1518バイト）、IPフィルターを25ルール適用した場合は0.9Gbpsです。PoE出力はether2〜5で、電源はDCジャックとether1のPoE受電（どちらも12〜57V）に対応します。
hEX PoEは、20台前後の端末がつながるネットワークの通信を処理しながら、PoE機器の電源も担えます。RouterOSからポートごとに電源を入り切りできるため、カメラや無線機器を離れた場所から再起動できます。動作温度範囲は-40〜60℃と広く、ファンのない構造です。
