1G Ethernetを5ポートと、2.5G対応のSFPポートを1つ備えた小型ルーターです。SFPポートで光ファイバーの回線やスイッチと接続できます。
CPUは2コアの32bit ARM（950MHz）、メモリは512MBで、USB 3.0を備えます。ルーティング性能は最大3.6Gbps（1518バイト）、IPフィルターを25ルール適用した場合は1.4Gbpsです。電源はDCジャック（12〜57V）とPoE受電（IEEE 802.3af/at、18〜57V）に対応し、ether5からは入力電源に応じた電圧のパッシブPoEで給電できます。コンテナはarm32v5のイメージだけに対応します。
hEX Sは、30台前後の端末がつながるネットワークの通信を処理できます。ファンのない構造で動作温度範囲は-40〜70℃と広く、夜間や休日に空調を止める場所にも設置できます。USBポートにはストレージを接続できます。
